Personal Life and Legal Troubles
On November 2, 2004, Julie was sued by her neighbor James Belushi for $4,000,000. Belushi claimed that she constantly harassed him, including playing loud music, insulting his neighbors, and even damaging his property. Julie, on the other hand, argued that she became a victim of Belushi's rude and arrogant behavior. However, in January 2006, the conflict was amicably resolved, and Julie even made a guest appearance on Belushi's sitcom "According to Jim".
In the early 1950s, Julie had a relationship with novelist Louis L'Amour. In 1977, she married lawyer J. Holt Smith, but they divorced after seven years. They had one child, John Jewl Smith, who was born with Down syndrome and was also deaf.
