Biography of Sasha Alexander

Early Life

Sasha Alexander, an American actress, was born as Suzana S. Drobnjakovic on May 17, 1975, in Los Angeles, California, USA. She comes from a Serbian and Italian background. Sasha began her acting career in school plays from the seventh grade, where she landed the lead role in the play "The Baby". She used to be a figure skater but had to quit due to a knee injury. Sasha continued to perform on stage during her schooling and college years. She then traveled to New York and spent a summer there, participating in a Shakespeare festival where she played Katherine in "The Taming of the Shrew". She later worked in London with Cissie Barry and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Career

Sasha graduated from the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. She began acting at a young age and continues to hone her craft to this day. Sasha has been a regular cast member on two short-lived series, the medical drama "Presidio Med" and Kevin Williamson's series "Wasteland". She appeared in the fourth season of the popular teen drama "Dawson's Creek" as Gretchen Witter, who was involved with one of the main characters. Sasha also had a guest role in the comedy series "Greg the Bunny" as Laura Carlson, a lesbian TV Guide reporter who shared a memorable on-screen kiss with actress Sarah Silverman. Sasha has appeared in the comedy films "Lucky 13" and "Yes Man". For the independent comedy "Lucky 13", she not only played the lead role but also participated in writing the screenplay and worked as a producer and director.

Sasha's most notable role came as Caitlin Todd in the CBS television series "NCIS". She portrayed the character from 2003 to 2005. In 2006, she had a small role as Melissa in the action film "Mission: Impossible III" alongside Tom Cruise. Sasha joined the cast of the series "The Nine" as Nick's ex-wife and played a reporter from Soap Opera Digest in an episode of the sitcom "Friends", where she interviewed Joey. In 2008, Sasha worked with director Peyton Reed, playing Lucy in the comedy "Yes Man". She also portrayed Caroline in Jason Wiles' action film "Play Dead". Sasha is set to appear in the comedy film "Tenure" directed by Mike Million in 2009 and has already filmed the comedy "He's Just Not That Into You", where she starred alongside Jennifer Goodwin, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connelly, and Scarlett Johansson.

Personal Life

Sasha divorced director and screenwriter Luka Pecel in 2007. On August 11, 2007, she married director Edouardo Ponti in Geneva, Switzerland. Edouardo is the son of actress Sophia Loren and film producer Carlo Ponti. The couple has a child together, Lucia Sofia, born on May 12, 2006.

Outside the Acting World

Outside of her acting career, Sasha has shown her versatility as a singer, joining a band called "Everything Nice" at the age of 14. She also has a passion for figure skating and dancing. When not busy with film and television work, Sasha enjoys traveling the world and spending time outdoors.
