Biography of Lisa Ho

Lisa Ho, an Australian fashion designer, was born in 1963 in Albury, New South Wales, Australia. From a young age, she displayed a passion for sewing, inspired by her grandmother who was a seamstress. By the age of 10, Ho was already sitting at the edge of the kitchen table, sewing clothes using embroidery patterns from newspapers. She would sew clothing for herself and her four sisters on a daily basis, honing her skills and craftsmanship.

Ho pursued a formal education in fashion design at the East Sydney Technical College, which she completed in 1981. After graduating, she spent a year working for a company that she despised before venturing out to establish her own brand. Like many Australian designers, Ho started her career at the Paddington markets, showcasing her unique fashion projects that quickly caught the attention of retailers and the media. This marked the beginning of the 'Lisa Ho' brand, which remains one of the most recognizable fashion brands in Australia to this day.

Celebrities such as Delta Goodrem, Sarah Wynter, Elle Macpherson, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Lopez, and Olivia Newton-John have all favored Ho's designs. She was even commissioned to design a dress for Olivia Newton-John, which the Australian actress and singer wore to welcome Olympic athletes.

Currently, Lisa Ho employs 70 staff members (excluding freelancers) who work at the main office and 11 retail stores. Additionally, her brand 'Lisa Ho' is featured in 250 boutiques worldwide. Ho is seriously considering opening a store in Los Angeles to expand her brand's reach.

Ho's dresses have been seen on Nicole Scherzinger of the group 'Pussycat Dolls' at the 'MTV Award' in New York, as well as on Carmen Electra, Annabeth Gish, Tyra Banks, and Jenna Elfman at movie premieres. Her designs continue to captivate the fashion industry and inspire women around the world.
